Chapter Statements

Acts of Chapter 2002

Our God speaks to us in and through the hearts that make up our collective heart, our communio. God invites us to listen attentively to our world as we hear the call to our collective heart.

To be
sisters
called to love
walking in trust
alive with hope

Candle

As Sisters of Charity we envision this as a call to a radical engagement with our world. It is in response to God's call:

That we affirm the CORE non-negotiable elements of our lives as Australian RSC's, with a past, a present and a future:

1. Commitment to communio.
2. Prayer: personal and communal.
3. Ministry: missioned by the Congregation as a Religious Sister of Charity - - our Vocation.
4. Service of the Poor: the marginalized.

Motherhouse chapel

That we affirm the NEW negotiable elements of our lives as Australian RSC's, by discerning at congregational & community levels:

I. Ways in which we express our commitment perpetual, temporary,
associates, companioning
...
II. Our expression of our communio: times, places, and ways of praying, meeting, 'being' together.
III. Ways of ministering & supporting each other's ministries to those on life's margins. Institutional & non-institutional ministries – unity in diversity.
IV. Ways of working towards an RSC voice on behalf of the marginalised - SCAN, social justice issues, ecological awareness ...

Dinner

That we have a congregational mid-chapter meeting to continue our discernment processes.

That the Chapter recommends to the Congregational Leader & Council that ministry and other forums be continued in order to carry through the conversations established during the pre-Chapter and Chapter periods.
