Sister Claire Nolan RSCIt is with great sadness that I inform all our communities, friends and colleagues of the Sisters of Charity of Australia of the death of our sister, Claire Nolan, Congregational Councillor. Claire died peacefully within our community home, Tarmons Terrace, 2 Rockwall Crescent, Potts Point on Sunday evening, 6 February 2005. Claire exercised her ministry as an elected member of our Council and a Trustee of the Sisters of Charity of Australia from 8 December 2002.

Her ministries have been within St. Vincent's Hospitals: Darlinghurst, Launceston, and Fitzroy. She responded to situations within Cambodia (1979-1980) and East Timor (2003). She trained in Coronary Care, Midwifery (Mercy Hospital, Melbourne) Operating Theatre and was an Operating Theatre Nurse Educator, Director of Mission in Sydney and Melbourne, National Director of Mission and a member of many Catholic Health Service Boards as well as the National Board of the Sisters of Charity Health Service. She also exercised the ministry of community leadership in a number of locations.

Claire was educated at St John’s, Auburn and did her tertiary training at a number of institutions. Her BEd (Nursing) was obtained at the University of New England and her Master of Education at the University of Technology NSW.

We ask your prayers for Claire, her family, friends and our Congregation. May her courageous soul rest in peace.
