Golden Jubilee of Sr Jeannie Johnston21st September 2010

On Saturday, 11th September, some 60 people gathered in the Giovanni Chapel of St Vincent’s Hospital, Brisbane, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Sr Jeannie Johnston.  Relatives, friends, an ex-student and Sisters came from up and down the east coast– from Townsville to Hobart – as well as from northern NSW, Toowoomba Townsville and Roma.

Fr John Maher, PP, with whom Jeannie worked for five years in the Cathedral parish of Toowoomba, travelled from Roma to celebrate the Eucharist.  The chapel was tastefully decorated and the liturgy flowed smoothly, with each member of Jeannie’s community participating.

Following the Eucharist guests assembled in Lillian cafe, the hospital’s cafeteria, for an enjoyable finger food repast.

The occasion was truly a celebration of a journey of joyful creativity, as Jeannie named it.
