Significant Contributions to Education8th March 2011

Sr Virginia Wilkinson was one of twenty women acknowledged for their significant contribution to education in the Archdiocese of Sydney at a ceremony to mark the Centenary of International Women’s Day.  The awards were presented by the Director of Catholic Education, Sydney, Dr Dan White who acknowledged Virginia especially as his mentor when he had been a beginning principal.

 

Several other women with strong links to the Sisters of Charity were also honoured, Ms Natalie McNamara (ex-student of Bethlehem College, Ashfield), Mrs Anna Dickinson (current Principal of Bethlehem), Dr Nance Millar whose daughters attended St. Vincent’s College, Potts Point) and Mrs Caroline Benedet (ex-student of St. Vincent’s College).

Many friends, colleagues and family members were able to attend the ceremony.
