Sisters of Mercy, Parramatta 125 Years Clebration18th March 2014
On Saturday, 1st March 2014, Sr Leone Wittmack and I represented our Sisters of Charity at the Celebration for the Sisters of Mercy, Parramatta 125 years of Foundation. We were very warmly welcomed especially by Sr Catherine Ryan, RSM, the Congregational Leader.
Bishop Anthony Fisher was the Presider at our Eucharist which was celebrated in the Mother Mary Clare Dunphy Memorial Chapel, with beautiful decor, enhanced by the natural light. It was the 75th Anniversary of the Opening of this Chapel, also part of the Celebration.
Adding to the Liturgy was the music accompanying a magnificent choir and the excellent homily acknowledging all the ministries of the Sisters of Mercy, as well as paying tribute to the Sisters of Charity and the first Religious Profession on this site, also the Good Samaritan Sisters, represented by Sr Clare Condon, the Congregational Leader.
During the celebratory dinner, both Leone and I renewed friendships The Celebration concluded with the launch of a booklet about the Memorial Chapel, showing many photos of its sacred images, produced by Sr Rosemary Crumlin, who gave a short talk.
