Annals of Sister Mary Baptist De Lacy

Extract from the Annals of Sister Mary Baptist De Lacy, manuscript. 1839-1856. This precious document provides an account of the founding years of the Sisters of Charity in Sydney, including the work of the Sisters among the convict women at Parramatta's Female Factory. Sister Mary Baptist De Lacy, who joined the Sisters of Charity in Dublin specifically for the Australian mission, was a trained nurse. She went on to found St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney (1857).
