Sr Marguerite Moloney: “A loving and free woman”
PrintSr Marguerite Moloney (centre, right) celebrates her platinum jubilee as a Sister of Charity with her fellow Jubilarians, Srs Eileen Thynne and Helen Malone.
The words of Pope Francis to Religious in 2014 are the words Congregation Leader Sr Clare Nolan used to open her written tribute to Sr Marguerite Moloney to celebrate her platinum jubilee:
“The apostolic effectiveness of consecrated life depends on the eloquence of your lives, which radiate the joy and beauty of living the Gospel and following Christ to the full.”
What a privilege for me to share this milestone of your 70 years as a Sister of Charity. Congratulations!
You certainly fit the bill of of Pope Francis’ words to religious. Your life as a Sister of Charity radiates the joy and beauty of living the Gospel and following Christ faithfully.
You are such an example of joy and faithfulness to me as I journey now from my Golden Jubilee. Only 20 years to catch up to you!
When I think of you, Marguerite, I see a loving and free woman who is deeply spiritual in her daily living. When I converse with you, you really listen, and it is as if I am all that matters to you in that moment. I have been in your presence when you speak to others and it is the same.
A happy woman, a faith-filled person. To be in your presence lifts the spirit.
You are interested in everyone. You are full of fun and live life to the full, limitations and all. And you are a lady, always. You care about your appearance and have good taste in clothes. You are not afraid to be feminine.
The great loves of your life has been family and Congregation – always ready to contribute and share ideas. Love of children and parents during your teaching days.
This extended into your parish ministry of pastoral care. And last, but not least, the love of friends. You have a special relationship with Colleen which now sees you supporting each other as you struggle with serious illness. Always cheerful. Always grateful. Always expressing love to and for the Sisters. Hospitable and welcoming.
Caritas Christi Urget Nos has been your guiding light, long with you motto chosen on your profession day 70 years ago:
“Heart of Jesus, my portion and inheritance forever”
You are a prayerful woman, and as your motto reflects, God is your all. Have a wonderful celebration, Marguerite. I join my praise and thanksgiving to God with yours for this days. “… for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Mt 6:21)
