Might God be calling me to be a Sister of Charity?

Print

A call to be a Sister of Charity is an invitation to give your whole life to God as a companion of Jesus and of the Sisters who share this call.

How can you know of you are being called? Ask yourself these questions, follow these steps:

1. Prayer. Lord, who are you calling me to be? Help me to listen deeply to your voice within my own heart and in the people and signs I see all around me.

2. Help me to be truly grateful for the gifts You have lavished on me – my life, my faith, my family, my friends, the particular interests and talents I have developed to this point in my life.

3. Gather information about the Sisters of Charity (www.sistersofcharity.com.au), speak with sisters I meet, ask questions of them and others.

4. Imagine myself as a Sister of Charity. What feelings does this evoke in me? Does it seem right? Do I still need to find out more? Am I beginning to feel excited that perhaps God want me to consider this possibility further?

If your answer to number 4 above is ‘yes’ or ‘maybe’, the next step is to ask a sister you know to accompany you as you continue your discernment. Alternately, you can contact the congregation directly at congregation@rscoffice.com or Facebook, @sistersofcharityaustralia.
