Care of our Common Home
PrintOur relationship with our Common Home
We hear the cry of creation in living our fourth vow.
In the face of climate emergency, we embrace a moral imperative, and claim our responsibility to be informed, to educate, to advocate and to act.
In a spirit of deep listening and learning, we commit to a more just future.
Care of our Common Home
As a result of facilitated meetings in November and December 2021 with Sue Martin from the Jesuits and Catholic Earthcare, the Sisters of Charity of Australia’s Care of Our Common Home committee formulated its Statement of Intent:
- With listening hearts, we will respond to the cry of creation and its poor.
- We will collaborate with our Sisters and partners.
- We will strive to become more environmentally conscious and impelled towards ecological conversion.
During the February and March 2022 meetings, the committee endeavoured to respond with practical actions to the goals of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform. This is a challenging task and will continue to be the agenda for meetings in May, June and possibly July. — Elizabeth Dodds rsc Chair, Care of Our Common Home committee
