Community Care
PrintIn June 2000, the Congregation established a company to provide support to its ministries serving in the community: Sisters of Charity Community Care Limited.
It is an Australian Public Company Limited by Guarantee registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. It is a Public Benevolent Institution and a Deductible Gift Recipient.
The Trustees of the Sisters of Charity of Australia are the sole member of the Company. The management of the Company is vested in the Board of the Company which is appointed by the Trustees.
From 2000, the Company provided support to ministries conducted by the Sisters in Victoria and Tasmania.
The last of these ministries, Briar Terrace, was transferred to St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne in 2014.
In July 2014, the Company began support of ministries operating in NSW and Queensland. Their focus is on meeting the needs of people in remote and rural areas who have been badly affected by droughts, floods and the general economic downturn in these areas.
