Motto: Abide in My Love

I go back to my time with you at St Joseph’s Hospital Auburn. You were my senior nurse in the male surgical ward. I remember a wonderful nurse, a skilled, caring committed woman. You loved your Nurse Training and graduated magnificently.  Nursing continues to be the core of your ministry. The Florence Nightingale Nurses Pledge was a spirituality for the nurse. It stands beside your religious vows we celebrate today.

You are a woman of love and your motto chosen on your Profession day Abide in my Love  has been a guiding light for the path ahead.

You were such a faithful supportive daughter to your parents and a wonderful elder sister to your siblings. Your devotion to family is outstanding.

Your love of the Sisters of Charity was all around you and you were faithful to the sisters also. After doing your Midwifery and Cardio Thoracic Course I was not surprised to hear that you had entered the Novitiate.

Your journey as a Sister of Charity has taken you on many paths – General Nursing,  Pastoral Care, Palliative Care, Sisters of Charity Outreach, hospitality for families of prisoners, aged care and now the care of our Sisters in Victoria and so much more.

Pam, it is not about what you do but it is about who you are, and being available to the other. I am so grateful to you for your support of me in ensuring that our Sisters are safe and being cared for. You are a quiet achiever, Pam, and willing to walk the extra mile. You instil confidence in the other and get on with it.  Your knowledge, professionalism, and confidentiality are so appreciated. You are respected by all, especially by your Sisters.

I thank God over these past six years plus I have had someone like you to be my right-hand woman. You are someone who has pain as your constant companion, but you are always willing to help where you can.

Your Mum and Dad will be rejoicing in heaven with you today. Thank you, Pam for your faithfulness.
