Pastoral Ministry

Print

From the time the first sisters arrived in Australia in 1838, we have been involved in many forms of pastoral ministry, beginning with the visitation of the female prisoners at Parramatta. Visitation has remained a hallmark of our Congregation during the past 170+ years.

The context for such visitation may be at a time of a bereavement, the celebration of sacraments, outreach from a school, sickness of a family member, reunion within a family, following up with displaced persons, welcoming the newly arrived to our shores, caring for the housebound and many other situation of need.

At all times the ministry calls for compassionate listening and non-judgmental, inclusive presence, and acceptance.
