Sisters of Charity Foundation
Every year, the Sisters of Charity Foundation provides compassion, hope and practical assistance to thousands of people across Australia experiencing disadvantage or marginalisation, via the following programs:
The Community Grants Program provides grants to innovative community projects that break down social isolation and alleviate the impact of poverty on individuals and families. The Foundation has distributed more than $12,273,345 to 1,117+ community projects since 2000.
The Tertiary Scholarship Program helps disadvantaged young people from out-of-home care backgrounds transform their lives through tertiary education. As of June 2025, a total of 32 students have graduated with a university degree or TAFE diploma since 2012.
The Asylum Seekers Support Program provides housing assistance and casework support to refugees and people seeking asylum through program partners the Asylum Seekers Centre and the House of Welcome.
During the 2024/25 financial year, the Asylum Seekers Centre supported 68 people with emergency and crisis accommodation, while 65 people received financial assistance to maintain their housing. The House of Welcome accommodated 84 people (57 adults and 27 children) across 17 properties every night through its Welcome Start Transitional Housing Program.
The Modern Slavery Transitional Housing Program provides transitional housing assistance and casework support to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking. 12 survivors have successfully completed the program to achieve independence since 2020.
Community Care provides support to people in regional, rural and remote NSW and Queensland who have been badly affected by droughts, bushfires, floods and general economic downturn.
