Bee Keeping Project
At Christmas time the Care of Earth Committee raised money for the Clean Water for Malawi project by selling Christmas vouchers for family and friends. We raised just over $1 000. After the generous donation the congregation made to the project we decided to see if there was a small project, where we could support the people the Sisters work in Malawi.
After consultation with the Sisters in Malawi, we decided to support their bee keeping project. One of the Care of Earth committee suggested to a sister in Malawi to look at Bees for Development, a UK founded non-government organisation. The Sister found they are operating in Malawi and she will reach out to them and is hopeful that it might be possible to send one or two of the community members to learn all that is involved bee keeping. We have just heard that ten new bee pots have arrived in the community and it is hoped that they will be installed in the coming weeks.
We look forward to hearing more about the bee keeping project in Malawi. We, the Australian Sisters of Charity, are delighted to be part of this developing project.
